I have not been updating this blog for a while now, due to a lack of time while I'm finishing my PhD. Yet a lot has happened in the past weeks.
It has taken a while, but Nathan can now stand up, while holding onto something, like a table or a chair. He cannot pull himself up quite yet, but that should not be too long ;-)
Nathan just grew about 2.5 cm in the last three weeks. He now measures 73 cm. Clearly he will not be wearing size 74 too long if he keeps going like this.
While we had the chance, we measured Elias. Taking into account that the position of the measuring chart is off about a cm, Elias measures at least 100 cm. This probably means he can no longer enter several entertainment parcs for free.
Nathan was ok, we were told by an expert. He weighs 7.750kg and measures 70.5 cm. The latter means he grew 1.5 cm over the last month, which is less than expected, but no cause for worrying. He does not yet sit up well, but that runs in the family. Otherwise everything was fine.
Today marks the appearance of the third tooth. To be more precise, the left lateral incisor on the lower jaw.
Today we saw two tiny teeth protruding from Nathan's lower jaw line. In contrast to Elias' first teeth, they are the front center teeth. Yesterday, Nathan's bonny felt nothing, and this evening they were clearly visible. And they feel very sharp! We'd better put a toothbrush on the shopping list.
Nathan has been starting to drool quite a bit lately, so here is the reason why:
Today Nathan went to Kind & Gezin for his monthly check-up. According to the elderly ladies volunteering there, he weights 6.550 kg and measures 68.5 cm. I have my doubts about the latter, but Veerle carefully looked when Nathan was put on the table. The doctor found that his head circumference now measures 43 cm.
So if you plan on buying him any clothes, size 74 would be a good idea.
We measured our kids today. Elias stands 98.5 cm tall, which is near the 97% length Belgian curve of children's lengths. This means that, statistically, nearly over 97% of the children his age are shorter. Nathan measures 66.5 cm, which is at the 90% curve. I've no idea why our kids are that tall, because neither Veerle nor me are particularly tall (175 cm and 180 cm, respectively). So, please keep this in mind should you decide to buy them some clothes. I really dislike people spending money on clothes we can hardly use. It's just a waste of their money.
We spotted two clear white spots on the lower teeth line. They have not protuded yet, but they are clearly visible. Seems like we might be in for a few rough nights soon :-)
