A somplaas

If anybody knows what a 'somplaas' is, now would be a good time to tell me, because it is something I have according to Elias and it is dangerous. I cannot make anything from his explanation but he has been going on about it quite insistently.

Update: it is even more dangerous for Nathan, because he can put it in his mouth.

The poleest evolved

The 'poleest' has evolved and has not been called that in the last few days. So now, it's officially a 'pistolet' to everybody in this household. Well, Nathan hasn't got a clue yet ...

Poleest

Elias knows perfectly well what the correct term for a small bread is: 'pistolet', but in his enthusiasm, he often calls it a 'poleest'.

Why not?

Usually, when we tell Elias not to do something, he complies. Sometimes, we need to repeatedly forbid him things, but in the end he listens. However, this week, we encountered the first 'Why not?' So from now on, we shall have to reason more extensively with him, instead of providing a simple explanation why we forbid something.

Elephants

Elias always used to say 'Olisaf' (dutch) for an elephant, instead of the correct 'Olifant'. However, he managed to get it correct since yesterday. Since then, his best friend has been a flattened elephant he received at birth and which has been neglected for over two years.
