Yesterday, Nathan was examined by our pediatrician, and was found to be in good health. He weight (while holding on to Doc Hudson) 11.960 kg and measures approximately 84 cm. Head circumference is 48.5cm.
Nathan was ok, we were told by an expert. He weighs 7.750kg and measures 70.5 cm. The latter means he grew 1.5 cm over the last month, which is less than expected, but no cause for worrying. He does not yet sit up well, but that runs in the family. Otherwise everything was fine.
Today Nathan went to Kind & Gezin for his monthly check-up. According to the elderly ladies volunteering there, he weights 6.550 kg and measures 68.5 cm. I have my doubts about the latter, but Veerle carefully looked when Nathan was put on the table. The doctor found that his head circumference now measures 43 cm.
So if you plan on buying him any clothes, size 74 would be a good idea.
Nathan weighted 6.020kg last night. Rejoice :-)
I seems the additional nutrients we are giving, help him gain weight. Right now, we dropped back to three extra bottles of 20ml with a spoonfull of Caloreen. The goal is to give only a single extra bottle after his last meal.
Nathan is having a slight dip. He lost 80g over the last 5 days. We hope he picks up the pace, as Veerle has a breast infection due to milk staying in too long. So, top weight was 5.570kg, and now we're at 5.490kg. Nothing too worrysome. Still, as a parent every small problem throws you back into insecurity and anxiety.
Nathan just received his two-month check at Kind en Gezin centre. I liked the doctor we had yesterday best of all those we met there up to now. It was time to be measured and weighed. Conclusion: 61 cm, which is at the 97% curve; 5.450kg, which is just above average; 40 cm head circumference, which is somewhere between the 75% and 90% curves.
One small problem was discovered: the foreskin opening is far too narrow. It should be pulled back a bit daily, which seems like a painful affair to me.
He measures 58.5 cm, and weighs 5.160 kg. Which is above average for a baby his age (7 weeks).
Nathan reached the magical border of 5kg! This has one big advantage: we need not wake him up anymore in the night to let him eat. He has been sleeping pretty well over the past days, napping from around 1:00 till 6:30, or even 7:30. But last night he has been sleeping from 23:00 to 7:30. And there was much rejoicing :-)
On April 25th, 2007, Nathan paid Dr. Azou - our pediatrician - a first visit. We were a bit worried because he is not eating very well, taking over an hour (at least) to suckle in about 70g to 80g of milk. He was measured, weighted, and the conclusion was: nothing to worry about (yet). He weighs 3.68kg, is 55.5cm tall (I think that an increase of 3cm in two weeks is quite a lot), and his head circumference measures 35.5cm.
